I just (finally)got a company phone ,but for the 08 year I used my personal cell phone , can I write that off?
Also I drive to work and used the 'thruway' often , a toll road , I have an 'easy pass' that I pay 80$ annually for so its a set amount that I pay a year instead of day-to-day activity that would add up. I work construction and my job sites may vary month to month.....can I write off the entire 80$?And what about milage? thx |

If you are already itemizing deductions, then you can write it off to the extent that you used it for your job. So, if you used it 25% of the time for work, and 75% personal, then you can write off 25% of the monthly payments.
However, employee business expenses are subject to the 2% of AGI (Adjusted Gross Income)limitation. If you make 50k, for example, your 2% limitation is 1000.00. Therefore you can only deduct expenses in that catagory that exceed 1000.00 for the year. |
